Old  How to best hire a full time designer?

I am looking to hire a full time web designer (coding knowledge a big plus). I have one I work with now that does great work, but due to his other clients it can be slow work at times. I would like to bring on a salaried designer and just don't know the best way to go about finding the right fit. I am nervous because I need to be able to trust this person and need them to be a long term fit, not a fly by night. Any thoughts you guys have would be VERY helpful!

Past recommendations, actually go to the sites on their portfolio and ask how they where.

Best of luck Lee, I don't know of anybody who has had luck hiring a salaried designer remotely over the internet. Let us know how you get on

The best possible way is to use Escrow. At the end of each week, you will top up a certain amount into it. Once the project is completed, release the payment after you gotten the files. Designer must agree to the terms and conditions of course. I'm talking about real full time pay depending on his qualifications, experiences and portfolio.

Well, he probably does. I'm sure he'll find one though. Good luck Lee!

Full time as in 40 hours/week + overtime?

Salaried, how much?

Contracts, conditions, how will it work remotely etc.

Give some more information and figures and you may even get some replies from excellent people from this community
