Old  [Debate] The death penalty, do you agree?

Ok everyone, lets have a good old debate! Time to get some interesting points and opinions across (without resulting to swearing i hope!)

Timothy Mcveigh is probably a good example, mass murderer sentanced to death for his actions (blowing up federal buildings with the intention to kill people) He took away innocent lives purely because he didn't agree with the politics/direction of the government.

Do you think a murderer (whether they killed one person or one hundred) should be sentenced to death as punishment? Or do you think they should just be locked away for life?

I don't agree with the death penalty, i think everyone deserves a second chance at life (even if they have killed innocent people) someone who takes someone elses life is mental in the head, full stop. These people need help and guidance, we are just being criminals ourselves by taking their chance at a decent life away. I agree they should serve a long period of time in prison but they shouldn't be sentenced to death, they should give the chance of a second life and the chance of forgiveness.

Noway! Death penalty is so bad. No one deservers to die no matter what theyve done. They deserve punishment not the easy escape

We had to do this subject when i was 14 in Religious Studies. I couldn't make a decision about it until I was made to watch the movie "Dead Man Walking" thats when I knew that I couldn't agree with the death penalty.

imo if they have killed people then why shouldn't die? so in that way i agree with it

BUT i also disagree with it because its such an old law to kill people for their actions, times have changed and we aint savages anymore so i guess im 50/50 with it. . .

I agree with the death penalty. But what I don't agree with is stupid California law that has them on death row.. until they die. IMO all states should follow Texas's lead and get it done within a few days - a few weeks.

Cop killers and such.
So someone should be sentenced to death if they only kill a cop? What's the difference between a police officer and a normal civilian?
