Apparently Google is working on a new image format which reduces the sizes of image files by up to 40%, which means faster loading times for our websites.

According to the above article we can expect to see Chrome supporting it within a few weeks, and I don't about you but I can't wait.

For me, it's not really a problem of when chrome supports it. It's a problem of when the major browsers support it. Now, when you consider how long it has taken IE to support some major CSS attributes, it doesn't seem too hopeful that it will be of use anytime soon!

I think GImage would be worse ;p/

Personally I think it`s more about major browsers (engines) and IE will support it via Google's IE plugin. However i think it`s easier to make it compatible with images format than multiple CSS commands, what's more probably Google will provide way how to make it so it`s not gonna be hard for Microsoft...
