If you don't mind the costs of printing, I've always found that doing double sided cards impresses people quite a bit, particularly if you are promoting a design company. Most people have never seen double sided business cards ^_^

The first thing to do is to determine if you what business you are actually designing it for. If its for a Graphic Designing firm....bold designs would do greatly. Along with a well thought out layout option which includes a lot of bold concepts. Your logo also must be top of the line.

If you are designing for some kind of "Corporate Service" such as a lawyer/ Accountant etc..simple less bolder designs will do fine in this. You should try to have the most 2 colours. The only thing outstanding in it should be the contact info and name.

That's all it is to it. :-)

Also, do some research - look at the companies who are offering business card design services and see what the pros are doing. Also, read what business experts have to say about what techniques are (and are NOT) effective.

Then, make your choices based on what message your business is trying to send to consumers.

It'll come to you ;-)

If it's color make sure your file is set to CMYK color. The colors will look different in RGB
