The upgrade was scheduled for 12 PM EST. During the day, I figured I was going to make the update closer to that time so not much stuff was lost from my clients. But just in case I posted in the billing panel, encouraging the clients to make backups just in case. Then, I left the house for 2-3 hours, and the technician must have misunderstood me, and ran the upgrade in the middle of the day, while I was away, and I couldn't make the back up.

Yes but when someone purchases hosting, they don't check their billing panal after 20 hours or so. Maybe sending an email to ALL clients would have been more practical.

Maybe you should have emailed all your clients instead of posting in the billing panel ?

Just a suggestion.

I think you missed the part of your post that I highlighted.

Clients shouldn't be losing any data in when something is planned. You planned for them to lose a small amount of data.

Your clients shouldn't have to be making their own back-up for scheduled maintenance. You should of had this covered. You say that you posted in it in the billing panel, but who checks the billing panel on a regular basis? I only check it when my payment is due. Why didn't you make your own back-up when you where encouraging your customers to back up? Not good news for a start up hosting company.

Edit: And as for the forum categories and descriptions being exactly copied from Hostedfx, that just shows utter un-professionalisms.
