  Old  need your opinion...

hey there,
we'll be running a contest soon and if you could be so kind to give us your opinion, we'd greatly appreciate it.

we're planning on giving away a PlayStation Portable as the 1st prize. well, actually the winner will have the option between a PSP or a 3 year extension to their hosting plan. there will also be 2nd and 3rd winners who will get extensions to their hosting accounts. the top winner will also automatically be eligible for a larger prize to be drawn in 6 months.

participants need to sign up to either one of our 2 featured plans to be eligible. in addition, they will get free domain registration.

these are the basic rules we've come up with and we're preparing to launch it on our site. the page is not live yet, and i'll notify you as soon as it is.
we're also looking for ways to get the word out.

any comments or recommendations would be much appreciated.

thx in advance.

Mike D.

How exactly does someone win the prize? Also, what if someone signs up to a plan then cancels once they have won or not won (in many cases) the prize? You need to have in the tos that there is a minimum contract period.

Well it depends on what your aiming for. If your aiming for teens and kids then the psp is good but if your aiming for a more muture group and older then free hosting, etc would be perfect. Hope that helps.

Although I'm not an attorney, my understanding of current US law is that you must provide a method for those desiring to take part in the contest without purchasing anything. If you require a purchase in order to participate, then it's illegal.

ROFL..Robson is saying that the guy all the way at the top was talking about winning a PSP. He never said anything about a PS3 or Xbox 360. I think Robson knows what an Xbox 360 is. If he doesn't...I declare a cout and take over talkfreelance.

Same in the UK unless an element of skill is involved. Having said that, with the prize being so small I doubt the Lotteries & Gaming Commision would bother with it.
