Old  Why is it necessary to maintain and update your website?

Variety is the spice of life – this is a renowned saying and it can be associated with your websites as well. When it comes to your website, adapt to everything that is latest with a blend of innovation and creativity. This not only makes you ahead of your competitors, but keeps your website well maintained, updated and definitely strengthens the relationship with visitors because every time you have something new to give them.

Let us find out the different aspects of the changes:-

• Content is the main facet where modification is mostly required. Your website should have innovative content that is revised recurrently. Revising the content does not mean moulding the same content again and again. Adding fresh content or a new page to your website at regular intervals would really prove to be good for search engine promotion. You can always make updates by uploading news regularly, write-ups about the happenings in your company, etc.

• Apart from the content, changing the look and feel of the website on and off can attract the attention of the visitors. The change in the look and feel of your website helps retain your customers because they find variety in your website. Moreover, keeping the website up-to-date with the latest technology can definitely prove to be beneficial. For instance, if you see that your website still has Web 1.0 look, get it modernized with the features of Web 2.0. This would give a good impression on the minds of the visitors.

• When everyone is in a mood to celebrate during the festive season, why should your website sit back? Think of the Holiday season, or Christmas Eve with decorations everywhere. Adding a little festive cheer to your website, you can give a feel of celebration to all your visitors. I am sure a decorated shop would attract you more than a regular one. Same goes for a website.

• A website should be given constant attention to ensure its proper functioning. Checking the proper functioning of the links, forms, loading time of the pages etc. should fall in your website maintenance activity.

• You can offer various promotional packages, offers to your customers all throughout the year. This attracts attention of visitors who land on your website and gives you an edge over your competitors.

• Proper display of your products plays a very important role in retaining the visitor on to the website longer. When they find interesting pictures or images in your website, they remember them and make frequent visits.

There may be innumerable changes that can be made in your website but you should always keep in mind that the changes serve the purpose rightly. The ethnic way of promoting something is the word of mouth which still exists. Since people love change, frequently updating your website will make your visitors like your website which will build a trust in them about you and your service offerings. This trust will make them come back to your website which might also make frequent visits directly remembering your website which results in improved sale of your products or services.

Any other point that you want to add? Would love to hear your thoughts

You should maybe start off by telling us who this article is supposed to be talking to. Probably not you're fault since for some reason this was moved to Articles from the Experts (not that u aren't an expert of some sort, i have no idea).

Nothing against you at all Versatile, but I think they are just trying to fill up this section. I think it would be better off with one thread (or no threads) than threads like this.

What updating your site frequently can do is:

- to benefit your customers by observing that your site remains fresh always
- to give reasons to customers to arrive back again to your site
