Design for your content. If I wanted art I'd visit an art museum.

I'm assuming this is in relation to a web hosting site (because of the forum)..

The most important thing is your support and quality of services. If you don't have either of those then your design can't do anything for you.

Village Genius will become famous soon enough

Both are equally important. A good design will keep them there for the first ten seconds and good content will keep them for the rest. One can not function effectively without the other. When I say a good design I dont mean flashy, as Dan said, design for your content.

Well both, as information will attract both readers and google, and site design will attract more readers.

you can work with a minimal design that is still REALLY eye appealing but from an SEO stand point you really need content and for it to be consistently updated.

To keep it simple:

Design keeps people on your website and looking at it.

Content is what gets your website ranked and gives the end user the information they are looking for. it really goes hand in hand but you have to know how to balance it.

Yes and No! I agree that a having a stylish website is something very important. However many successful websites are pretty basic and not that attractive! It probably depends of the purpose of the website. Some have to have nice and unique design. Others would offer just a simple navigation and a lot of information.

both of them are equally necessary. Content is useless if it is not presented in a good way. Simplicity is the key...

Both are equally important to keep your website flooded with visitors. WebSite design will attract new visitors to your website and the website content will keep them interested in your website. Website design is the first step to attract new customers. Lets try it both ways. If your website's design is not good, no visitor will wait on your website. He won't bother to read your content even if its very informative and unique. If your design is good but if your content is not informative and unique, no visitor will come twice on your website after reading the content once. You should work on both aspects so that you can attract new customers on your website and also keep them interested in your website by providing them something new and unique information to read.
