So does this mean that the regular Brius servers handled the front pager? Then what would be the point of switching over to the Survive Digg service?

In all honesty, I didn't think we would make the front page and when we did I was in a rush to move it to our new server, but I didn't have to. Our Brius server held up fine.

We didn't want to host the survivedigg.com website on the new server because we wanted to leave it for the customers only. No sense in hogging their resources.

True true, and you didn't really get that much traffic from Digg because of all the haters. That was ignorant of me to ask that.

Great question. Don't feel guilty for asking. It's perfectly acceptable.

The answer is simple. It depends on what package you're on. Furthermore, it also depends on how much bandwith you end up using. We would probably have to charge you extra for the BW you used. A one time digg is no problem.

Add to the fact that you don't know when you're going to be on the front page, and for how long, anything could happen.

Survive Digg servers and packages are specifically made with the intent on getting dugg - and getting dugg repeatedly. Not just Digg, but also from other high traffic sites that can create a surge of traffic. It's perfect for the professional blogger who experiences huge amounts of traffic at any time.

And besides, we were on the front page for about 5 minutes before being pulled down. Shame, but that is what we expected.

Ah, I see. So Net Business Blog would be perfect for this style of hosting. But it would be pretty cool if Brius could hold up to a few front pagers

Great concept and good luck! Though I would never sign up for this service seeing how Brius seems to go down more frequent than other reliable hosts. It went down today as well.

Actually it didn't. Thanks though. The other time it went down was due to the datacenter.

You should get a uptime monitor.

So say ten people sign up for this, each release an article at the same time and reach digg frontpage throughout the day, sending an average of 15k uniques to each site, could you really handle this?

I could understand if you were a large company and running this service, but last time i heard Brius was running on one server? Even with two servers, it's still going to struggle.
