  Old  Install on your computer

Hello, yes I am trying to get a PHP/MySQL area setup on my computer for i can work on developing some php things that require databases to run and for I have a test space for me to develop wordpress/vb/ipb skins and I can't seem to get them to work so im looking for some help.

People recommended both xampp and wampserver to me, but i am not getting either, I installed them in the spot i want go to it in my browser, but then php doesn't show up and I cant figure out how to connect them to a database. How would I go about doing this and which one is best recommend.

Best Regards,
Randy Cram

We'd need much more information to be able to usefully help you. Do you see errors? What exactly happens and doesn't work?

So you've installed XAMPP and gone through the entire documentation found on their site, and still can't get it to work? I find that incredibly hard to believe. The documentation on their site is top-notch, and it's very difficult to not be able to get up and running quickly. That's the whole purpose of XAMPP, to make the process extremely simplified.

In regards to connecting PHP to a database, you'd need to learn how to script this yourself. Check out many of the tens of thousands of tutorials on the Internet, or consult the PHP manual: http://us3.php.net/mysql

Well firstly, you need to solve the PHP issue. Please check the .conf files and ensure that the path to the PHP binary is correct.

You can also try Wamp Server http://www.en.wampserver.com/.

I use it and it a great tool to test your work locally.

First of all, it seems that he isn't using either, XAMPP or Wampserver. Are you trying to install PHP without these packages?

What happened when you tried WAMP? I've installed it multiple times without any problems.

It doesn't matter where you installed it, you always go to http://localhost
