My computer is...

P4 3.06ghz HT, 2 x 512ddr ram, 120gb hard drive & 4mb Net connection, so really I just need to get my hands on a better graphics card.

There are so many things wrong with that quote. Also, Robson, the new drivers come packaged with the game although I don't know if the TI runs off the forceware. If not, go to nvidias site and get the latest drivers for your Gforce4. I doubt they are going to enable you to run it though, if you dotn run the Forceware.

Oh yah the Processor is fine, I think a 6600gt would do the trick.

I would go withthe Leadtek, they have nice stock cooling on there cards, plus Splinter's Cell.

don't be so niave. . .

The 5900 in all benchmarks i have seen outpreforms the 9800 range. Infact if you play with AA and AF off it can even pull better results than a 6600 in some games. I would deffinately agree with the 6600GT though and the leadtek like you said has some very good cooling, bought my brother one of these and its amazing - deffinately worth the £££

Care to mention some of those things? Do you actually have a counter-argument?

How about these facts:

-The demo is 560 mb, yet you only get 1 map and a 10 minute round limit. I remember when the UT2003 demo was 140 mb and you could play as long as you want, on several maps.

-The game isn't portable. You basically need a dx9 card to play. There are too many people with Geforce 4s and FX5200s for the developers to ignore.

-The only supported OS is Windows XP!

-It has some _real_ original concepts, like
*aiming down the scope (Call of Duty)
*Red vs. Blue theme (Counter-Strike)

-The demo doesn't even allow you to change your video settings. It decides what detail levels are best for you, and you have to restart the game to change it.

What's your point? MMoRPGs support thousands of players. Does that mean the game runs efficiently? The fact is that Battlefield Vietnam is a system hog that runs way too slowly.

Huh? I never told you what video card I had.

I think the game's engine most be really poor (not sure what they are using) or the games is totally unoptomized. . . the game doesn't have the best graphics/physics/details we have seen yet it has the highest system specs - seems kinda odd

That's why PC game sales only account for 5% of the gaming market, a number that's shrinking every year. The upcoming generation of consoles is going to kick PC gaming's ass, and the generation after that is going to make PC gaming obsolete.

check these - The 5900 beats the 9800pro in almost everything including 3D Mark, Codecreatures, UT2003 and others. . .

the 9800XT may well beat it however but the pro version was the one i was talking to (thats the one been mentioned in thias thread)

Not that it matters though, both are decent cards and i doubt you would notice the difference between either

Exactly. Especially once online gaming really takes off on consoles it will make it just so much easier and affordable that people will opt for the console everytime

Oh please, you're making a meaningless comparison. The 5800 was supposed to compete with the 9800 pro. The 5900 competes with the 9800XT.

If you compare the 5800 with the 9800, the author of that review sums it up perfectly:

Consoles also need better control schemes. It's beyond me why they don't add keyboard and mouse support to next-gen consoles, so first-person shooters and real-time strategy games are actually playable.
