There is no way to stop someone from downloading your image. There are ways around every trick in the book, it just depends on how desperate they are to get it.

if it's on the web, it's downloadable. simple as that. even flash objects can be downloaded... quite easily actually using a simple firefox extension (adblock, flashblock, etc.)

i was trying something similar last week and came up with this little check list;
- Set as background image in div tag (CSS)
- Transparent gif overlay of div to protect from right click
- Javascript disalbe right click
- watermark image (only thing for screen shots)
I think there was something with .htaccess as well and images...my brain is a bit fuzzy though on that.

you can try this:
store the picture on a database, that will block people from linking right to it
and when you load the image to your website load it into a dynamic flash file, so the user can maybe save the SWF file but it won't help him because this SWF takes the image from the database
but still... you got the print screen problem..

They can get around the right-click script, then just go into your CSS, find the image property, and go directly to the image.
Just don't bother trying to do this, there is no way you can't stop someone from downloading a picture off your website.
All images viewed by a user are stored on their computer in a temp file, I'm pretty sure.

Rule # 1.
If you don't want it taken, don't post it.
Right click disables are cute, but just click on File>>Save As and you get the whole site.
Flash is better, but it is in your cache.
OR
Just click on CRTL + PrtSc (Print Screen) and past it into photoshop.
Best you can do is to put a watermark on it or not post it at all.

If it's for commercial use, you could water-mark the images, therefore anyone who downloaded them wouldn't have any use for it: http://www.google.co.uk/search?clien...=Google+Search
The problem with using javascript to disable, clicks, and button movements is that, any astute web-user can simply view the source code, and look for the files location. I personally find websites with disabled buttons/clicks very annoying. That is why I think water-marking images would be much more suitable.

They could always take a screenshot of the image and transfer it to PS.

@Andrew,
Yeah, what I did is more annoying than anything, and wont prevent those who know how to get to that image. Interestingly enough, I did this and asked some suits in my office to try and "download" or save the image in question. On a scale of 1 to 10 on internet knowledge, I would place most of them at a 4 and one at a 7. None were able to figure it out luckily. But for developers, thats a different type of crowd.
Pretty much, nothing stops me from getting whatever image I want. Nothing yet at least.
