  Old  PC help parts

Okay im looking for a new pc, im going to buy the parts and have my uncle fix em together.

http://www.buymytemplate.com/pc2.doc

Thats what i have so far, i want to spend prefferably £470 max

I need all of those things;

motherboard
processor
case
psu
graphics card
memory
harddrive

Here is what i need for all of the above list

I want a graphics card which is pci-e and nvidia or radeon.

I want an amd processor, amd 64 athalon 3200+ socket 939 or better

I want a motherboard to support the processor and graphics card and a sata hard drive, also with usb 2.

Case im not fussy but should be large enough to fit everything, and not too ugly

PSU would need to be at least 350wt

Memory i would like at least 1gb

I want a sata hard drive not too fusy about space but 50gb + and 700rpm +

You can help by suggesting what i do/dont need, and also any products which are better or more appropriate than the ones ive choosen and fix the budget.

Please help me its christmas :reindeer:

It looks a pretty good system but your probably going to want a bigger PSU for that set up.

Have a look on www.overclockers.co.uk and go around picking some good parts

I think personally AMD 64 is for the future for more budget users. Dual core is supposed to be amazingly fast but it is extremely costly.

Processor - If you wish to invest for the future i would go for 3200+ atleast.
Motherboard - Asus of DFI LanParty i think are the best.
Harddrive - Make sure you go for SATA - 16MB cache and 7200 Rpm.
Graphics card - Have a look maybe at Geforce 6800 or ATI X800 series.
Memory - Corsair or Crucial (Corsair are expensive but extremely good)

I use my computer and look for computers with good "gaming" specifications, so this might not be good for you.

Hope this helped a little bit

EDIT : I didnt read your budget

Unless you plan one playing a lot of games or using a lot of big programs (adobe, macromedia, 3d, etc.) then toss out the 1GB ram. My pc is very equivelent to what you are looking for and it custom built.

Only things that are different is my processor and hdd. I have an AMD atholon 3000+ XP and a 160 GB hdd.

As for the video card, I have a 256 MB Geforce 5200 xfx series. Its was about $89.99 and only requires 300 watts of power. Stronger video cards require more power. Just something to keep in mind.

Its true what Empty Promis3s said.

You can get away with 512mb ram instead of 1GB

Also the graphics cards i spoke about were a tad expensive

Half life 2 and day of defeat source need a higher graphics card than 256 MB Geforce 5200 xfx series to keep 100fps constantly. However it all depends on your graphics card budget.

Geforce 6200 series are good for the money. high pixels per clock and run at at high amount of Mhz. Good for gaming at a budget cost

You could probably knock about 20quid off your graphics card by going for a Geforce 6600GT - They are still absolutely brilliant cards for the price of them.
