Old  Yahoo Publisher Network, or Google Adsense?

Okay, I'm not sure if this is talkfreelance "legal", although I've been asked a ton of questions on the subject and have decided to write a very mini article on what I think about the two networks, YPN and Adsense.

So, I've been asked many times. I'm sure many other people have been asked many times aswell that run both publisher programs. Which is better?

In my observation, YPN (Yahoo-Publisher-Network) has an overall higher payout rate than google. Meaning, they tend to - in the end - pay more per click for publishers than Google's Adsense network does. This can be easily turned around, though, what I've just said was in refference to basic advertisements. No heavy advertisement optimization or anything, simply Yahoo ads and Google ads out in the open air of a website.

I believe Google is more flexible with what you are able to do with their advertisements. Styling, positioning and placement, small things like this. (Don't get me wrong, they're important enough). What I'm saying here is, many people are able to achieve a higher CTR (Click-Through-Rate) with Google's Adsense, over Yahoo's Publisher Network because of the leniancy. At this point, you have to decide which is worth more. More clicks with Google, or less clicks with Yahoo with a higher PPC (Pay-Per-Click) rate. Whichever turns out to bring the most out of the program is the one to use.

Not to say, though, that Yahoo advertisements are not of value! I'd have to say that throughout my experiences with both networks, there's no competition between Yahoo and Google. Yahoo, still in its BETA stages, performs much better than Google does. YPN provides me with a constant wealthy revenue stream each time I recieve a click. Google, still does its job, although no matter how many clicks I get it just does not compare to my experiences with Yahoo Publisher Network.

So, my recommendation. If you've been accepted into Yahoo's Publisher program, go ahead and use it. Optimize it well, and legally. You should be able to get a little more "bang" click-after-click. Of course, many people still preffer adsense, and predict Yahoo's Publisher Network will be a demoralizing, dramatic crash after it reaches the "beta-no-longer" stage. We'll just have to see, when this happens!

I get like $2.00/day average with Adsense, running through 2 sites. I've had a pretty well experience with Adsense to. I've never used YPN, so I cannot compare my results.
