I used to use Firefox, but then I recently switched to Chrome and I'm lovin' it. So much faster than Firefox and uses way less memory and CPU.

Isn't Chrome based on Firefox source? And why is it faster? Isn't it because it stores a lot of data locally (through Gears)?

It uses WebKit, same engine as Safari. Not the same as FF though, that uses Gecko. Afaik there's likely none of the source that's in common with Firefox excluding maybe some common code snippets.

Thank you for clearing that up. I hear more people talking about Chrome as this ultra-fast browser, but I tried it when it first came out, and I wasn't left very impressed with it. I thought navigating to my favorite sites was somewhat awkward and some sites weren't even displaying properly (some pieces of the page weren't functioning at all).

I have been a die hard IE fan for years since I've started using a PC, but switched to Firefox about a year ago and - never looked back. The feature that killed it for me - address bar history search. Now I don't even use bookmarks anymore - just start typing where I want to go and boom - I am there!

Yeah couldn't agree more... FF is brilliant for me but everytime I check processes it's running around the 200k mark.

The bookmarks/favourites tabbing and grouping is everything I need (excluding firebug ofcourse)

I use WebKit nightly primarily, and if you code with tight semantics and a CSS reset then you usually don't need to worry about FF, since Gecko renders everything almost the same. For work I'm required to have a VM for IE 7/8.

Use what you like, I prefer WebKit nightly because Apple's developer tools are superior to Firebug IMO and I don't use addons (except for Inquisitor).

For checking the website I'm doing, I use Firefox. My default web browser in my computer is Chrome because it is clean, it doesn't have all the bookmarks where I have in Firefox.

Will Firefox suffer the same fate as Netscape with the popularity that Chrome is gaining?

The only problem I have with Firefox is it's epic memory leakage. Aside from that it's great.

Chrome is far too buggy.

Since I have all those lovely plug-ins for FF I can live without, I think I'll keep up with this one for a while
