  Old  [Help] is this possible?

I recently purchased a new computer with an 'nVidia GeForce FX5500' video card and I got 2 TFT monitors with it.
I want to connect the two monitors to my PC, not with the same content on it, but it has to be basicly one large screen.

When I purchased the computer the seller told me it is possible to do that, when I got home I saw I had 2 different ports, a VGA port (which my monitors supports) and a DVI-i port (which my monitor doesn't support).

So I figured I need a DVI-i > VGA adaptar/cable to make it work, I searched on Froogle and found a few.

I went to the same store again to ask for a DVI-i > VGA cable, I told the guy I have a nVidia GeForce FX5500 and he told me it doesn't support 2 monitors, he said I need some kind of 'dual' video card for that.

Another guy that worked there told me it IS possible and told me a completely different story.

So I'd like to know if anyone knows if my video card actually supports 2 monitors, and if I need a cable for it or something else.

If it is not possible, does anyone know any good video cards that DO support 2 monitors?

it is definatly possible.

if the connections on your card look similar to this
http://img.epinions.com/images/opti/...resized200.jpg
the white connector and the blue connector then your in business. if not you need a new card (and id recomend an ati card)

go to another store (the one you went to are obviously retards) and pick up a vga -> dvi adapter (http://www.yopi.de/images/prod_pics/155/e/155743.jpg)

connect up the monitors
then
1 right click desktop
2. click properties
3. click settings
4. click monitor 2
5. then click extend my windows desktop onto this

NOTE: the software steps are for my x800 which is an ati so they may be slighly different.

this should work. its what i do

Ya.. it's actually pretty annoying, but I do need it when I have PhotoShop or Cinema 4D opened.
