[DEBATE] What are your thoughts on same sex marriages?
We haven't had a debate on talkfreelance for quite a while now so I figured it was about time!
The debate at question is, What are your thoughts on same sex marriages? Personally, I'm not agaisnt it at all, if two people love each other then surely they should be allowed to show it through the sacrement of marriage.
I don't agree with same sex families though, e.g A gay couple adopting or test tube babies etc. I believe a child should have a father and a mother and be brought up the way they were meant to be.

I believe a lot of this has to do with the way parents raise their kids. If a son doesn't have a dad that is around then sometimes he is raised differently. NOT ALL THE TIME. But I have seen this.
Its none of my say really, I mean if you like the same sex than so be it.
I sure don't agree with it at all but the freedom is yours.

I have absolutely nothing against same sex marriages, I think it's absolutely awesome that anyone can show their love for eachother in such a way. But the subject of children being bought into it is something I don't think I can comment on because I'm torn between it.

I don't have anything against it. Although I can get annoyed by some gay people, I try to live with it. But then again it's mostly the persons personality I don't like, not that they are gay. Straight people can act fruity too, I just don't care for ditzy acting men.

What's there to be torn between?
You think it's fair that a kid should be raised by two dads/mums? How do you think the kid will be treated throughout his school life? Also, alot of gay marriages can be violent and they generally don't last as long as hetrosexual relationships.

Hetrosexual marriages can be violent to Rob, I know you know that! And who is to say a child with a mother and father is going to be treated better or worse than a child with two mums or two dads? No one can judge what any person will be like as a parent until it happens.

Don't you think it's unfair on the kid who gets brought up by two dads though? Imagine how he could be treated in secondary school by his peers? No child should be brought into that.

And who is to say they would be treated badly? Everyone gets picked on and stuff at school, it's bad but it happens and not just to kids with parents of the same sex.
