Old  Client wants to meet in a bad neighborhood

I have a client (a law firm) who wants to schedule a meeting in his office on linden blvd (known as the harlom of brooklyn, shooting and violence is very common). I don't feel comfortable going there, and offered the client to telecommunicate, or meet at a cafe or some mutual location, but he insisted to meet him at his office. Any advice?

I would tell him that you don't feel comfortable meeting there. You should explain why you are unwilling to go.

@DeanK, but I don't want to insult him or anything. He probably has some pride in his neighborhood.

I agree with Dean, no meeting is worth your safety. If it's a bad neigborhood they'll no it so no real explaination is necessary, just a simple "I'm not comfortable going into that neighborhood." He probably expects that you are going to drive there and park in their spaces, which given some of your previous posts isn't the case. You may have to clarify that.

Every city has a 'bad' patch, very often over hyped. Remember, they're a law firm and have their business their - it can't be *that* bad, surely?

Drive / get a cab straight there, and go straight in. You'll be going in the daytime right, and not after dark?

Ask your client to meet in some public place like cafe or restaurant... also tell him the reasons why you are not comfortable meeting at office...
