  Old  What's new around here?

So, it must have been five—years since I was last here... What's new?

Village Genius will become famous soon enough

Now here's an old timer I didn't expect to see. My username was probably c_programmer back when you were here.

Since you've been gone Robson sold the site to a guy named Big Zee. Long story short Zee acquired us to be used as a marketing platform for an SEO product his company was going to use. He tried to merge us with his SEO community and it did not go over well. In the process he basically ran the forum into the ground and left Salathe (and at times myself) to run the place. He eventually sold the site to Artashes who has been running it since. Things are moving slower than we had hoped but we have big plans for the future.

So what have you been up to these last five years?

What a coincidence - I was just visiting your website yesterday! Found a link to it through a thread here at TalkFreelance.

I remember Robson selling and Zee coming along... I was admin at the time and remember several arguments between staff that I had no time for. I also remember hating this design but think it was put into place after I'd stopped coming.

What's happened with me in the past 5? Well I'm still at the same company where my role is now Lead Web Software Developer. I still do the occasional piece of freelance but only for a select few clients. My son is in 2nd grade now and isn't happy when I come home from work and go straight up to the office to start freelancing.

I've been through 3 new cars (Chevy Equinox, BMW 328xi and now a Toyota Prius). *The Equinox was a mistake, the Bimmer was a lot of fun but only saw 12mpg and the sport pack suspension made every bump in the road jar my spine, so that was also a mistake really. I'm very happy with the Prius so far.*

I switched to Mac after being a diehard PC user for many years and have now succumbed to many other Apple products (am writing this on my iPad for instance).

I quit smoking and gained 30lbs then quit drinking and lost 45!

What's new? Not a whole lot to report! Though, there has been something amazing on the horizon for a very long time, as per usual.

It's in many ways like http://youtu.be/fFufoOgCMW8?t=10s (minus the ending).
