  Old  my html woes

So someone posted on another forum that they needed someone to code some layouts quick, divs and css, valid xhtml, for 5-20 per page. 5 being ridiculous, but i figured 20 would be a good bet, i can usualyl slice and code in an hour or two, depending on complexity.

not this time.

i put 6 hours into the damn thing, and he emailed me back with changes that had to be done by tomorrow. i said no way. i dont need 20 dollars that bad.

moral of this? Ask to see what you're expected to do before you do!

I tell most of my clients to go into MS Paint and draw up something EXTREMELY basic to their liking. Then I can get an idea. Works for me... normally, lol. I get some of the weird ones though that can't use MS Paint...

that MS paint thing is an awesome idea. I have someone that's been begging me to make them a site but they have NO IDEA what they want. I refuse to do it because I'm scared I won't do it to their liking and have a problem on my hands. I'll try that!

6 hours is definately to long to spend on something that you are only getting paid $20.

I think the moral should be.....ask for 50% payment upfront. Even if they do show you what they require some people can still be difficult to work with online.

20 bucks....hahaha

In America, we call that paying a Mexican to do a high paying job at a fraction of the price.

It amazed me what people will do for money these days!! 20 bucks can't even buy me a shirt or a tshirt for all that matters...

Remember though... For some of our friends overseas $3/hr is pretty damn good...
