  Old  Hello!

Hi, my name is Barry and I'm a desert dweller out here in the Great Southwest portion of the USA - Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm currently a freelance graphic artist with a new iMacG5 and the latest versions of Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, Macromedia Flash, etc. and I'm ready to put this hardware and software to work!

I've been working on Macs for over 20 years now, but keeping up with today's ever-changing technologies is a job in and of its own self, so I'm hoping I can contribute what I might know and learn from others as well here.

Hey Barry,

Welcome to TalkFreelance, I hope you enjoy your stay.

It sounds like you have one helluva machine there, what are your views on the on going "Mac vs Pc" war?

Regards

Yeah, this iMac G5 is sweet! I better enjoy it now, because a year or two down the road, they'll have come out with something sleeker, faster, better and (possibly) cheaper. It won't be long before my equipment will be classified as outdated and relegated to the electronic "tar pits" of computer evolution along with all the other dinosaurs.... lol

As far as the mac/pc thing goes, I'm certainly a hardcore Mac guy all the way... at least from a design/publishing industry standpoint. I'm sure there have been many books written on the subject, so as a tiny voice of only 4% of all computer owners in the civilized world, I think I'll keep my mouth shut and leave it there. I don't want to ignite the mighty wrath of the "evil empire..."

Welcome to TalkFreelance! I definately agree with the design aspect of using Mac's. In my honest opinions, all Operating Systems excel at different things, therefore there can be no real favourite. Linux for security, Mac's for design, and PC's for gaming/programming.

Ultimate,

There you go. I couldn't have said it better myself! It's funny how they all seem to "borrow" the best features from each other too, as their respective OS evolves. With Mac OSX's three-tier system based on a foundation of Unix and Linux getting better all the time with graphics - it's like pretty soon we'll all have this one big happy OS that does everything... (in my dreams...)
