What on earth? There is a big difference between html and php, for one php is a programming language and the reason a site would have .php is because it has a script within it (whether it's an order form or pulling something from a database etc).

No its not pointless, You can use:

<?
include 'header.php';

Which means to update a site its a whole lot easier
