Canonical URL means pure version of URL. It is way to choose right URL from several choices. When you have several URLs with same content and product then you can define Canonical URL which specify which is pure version of URL and which are the duplicates of it. Otherwise you will panelize by search engine if it detect any duplicate URLS.

An unique URL should be required for a website

For ex: some people will type http://www.ex.com, and some will type www.ex.com and some will type ex.com

Canonical = if u type in any format as mention above , it wan to redirect to a unique URl
(http://www.ex.com)

Contact the server provider and include the .htaccess file and over come this canonical issue

here is a possibility that search engines could interpret the two pages as mirror pages with duplicate content. It is a pretty quick fix for an seo.
www.example.co.uk is technically a different site than example.co.uk

To be precise, Canonical URL is that URL that you actually want to show to your website visitors. As for example, you might have the following types of URLs:
http://www.yourwebsite.com,
and http://yourwebsite.com
If, your website opens with or without using www, Google will consider them as two different URLs having the same content, and might penalize you for content duplicity. Therefore, you must ensure that you choose the best option (with www) and write the codes in such a way that your website does not gets redirected to the other URL, which is without www.

Canonicalization is a process for converting data that has more than one possible representation into a “standard” canonical representation.

So, Canonical + URL (Uniform Resource Locator) = Duplicate Content = More supplemental results = less Google lovin’
