Old  Need help reformatting my Sony Vaio!

My pc is seriously messed up, I cant run Photoshop, Firefox stalls a lot, takes ages to respond or boot up so I want to format my pc. It has been slow for months. Here comes the problem....

I have a Sony Vaio and I have my recovery cd's. However, when I try to recover my system, I get the following message: Cannot use this recovery disk for this computer. Confirm model type.

For those wondering, I have no hardware or anything installed extra onto this pc. What am I doing wrong? How can I get around this problem?

Thanks for all help in advance.

Well, what you could do is download GParted and reformat your whole drive, then try reinstalling Windows, but if that doesn't work you want have a computer at all. By any chance to you have a default Windows Xp/Vista Disc? (Not one that came with your Vaio!) Since I believe it's legal to have a copy (the CD Key is what makes legal/illegal)

Hey guys! Thanks for all replies so far. I believe I will have to contact Sony personally, I want a legit copy on my pc. Matsa, I believe the recovery disk checks the hardware tattoos so doesnt mind if I format .

I don't have a nmormal xp cd, only recovery cd's and windows office pro.

Your best bet I would say is just to contact sony even though there support completely sucks. They make Stereos, TV's, Sound Systems, etc. they should of stayed there and never entered the computer business. Besides the fact that they have a huge well known, good reputation name with overpriced computers, and other products. What could work out better?
