Old  Do people buy non-unique templates?

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I was thinking today. I know most people on a forum like this like to buy templates that are unique. But, do you think that there are many people that would pay for non-unique templates for open source software like joomla, wordpress etc?

I know there are a hell of a lot of very good free wordpress templates out there, are there still people that are willing to pay say $20-$30 for a non unique one?

I asked something similar here before. I think it would be wrong to say there wasn't people who would, but as you say, there are a lot of great free non-unique templates out there so I would think the market is fairly small. The way I see it is, if somebody wasn't bothered wether or not something is unique, they wouldn't be interested in purchasing anything either.

However, I still believe there are people who would, but as far as TF goes, I haven't seen it happen

Peace, Lance

I only use unique templates on my sites. I don't see any two ways about it.

A lot of people use non-unique blogs. I've had decent success selling a ready to go WP theme for $80 a pop.

Look at Vbskindepot and 2theme. They sell non-unique, alsong as they are really good quality and you update with a large range of non-unique templates. But selling on TFL, never.

slavingia, would it be possible to PM me a link to the theme so I can see what sort of quality/style it is?

@everyone else, I know selling on here would be a silly idea as people wouldn't buy it, I was just wondering if there is a market out there for this sort of thing or if all these free template sites have wiped it out.

I made quite a lot of money at the start of the year selling non-unique wordpress themes. They were all very, very high quality though (mostly designed by hjalmar, aftermath etc)

If you get the right quality and market it properly then there is definately a demand for them out there. Just make sure to aim for the right audience.

How would you say is the best way to market a site selling non unique templates?

Obviously doing it on here would be pretty much a waste of time.

Look at templatemonster.com. Their making tons and theirs are non-unique, except some sell for unique rights.
