I may also add the £30/month contract is an appalling let down from 02 - you practically get nothing.

Also, am I the only one that sees PAYG on an iphone pointless?! Data transfer would just wipe out your credit... you really need the unlimited data transfer that a contract offers.

Yeah, pointless, but what can you do? Nothing. If you want an iPhone it's something you're going to put up with, blame Apple; since they're taking a chunk of that £35 from o2; o2 have said before the plans aren't ideal; but they have to cover their own costs; so a high price and the low amount of minutes/texts is just something people are going to have to put up with; otherwise o2 would be creating a loss.

Pay As You Go iPhone - I agree; but PAYG iPhone on o2 will probably never happen; even though its on their site; I don't think it will survive; for that exact reason of Data Transfer.

PAYG iPhone doesn't seem that bad an idea ... I mean, for people who just always wanted an iphone but would never use the internet or to use the maps to find places etc ... all they wanted was the apple interface, visual voicemail, new sms style etc
plus the fact that you can still use wifi means you can still use some of the iPhones features without running up a huge bill. Tbh its more like an ipod touch with limited phone abilities

that was my stance a good few months back, but things change

I have to agree, however I do think that it would be so easy to 'slip up' with PAYG - you often click a few icons without thinking - loading up the itunes store for example, bang credit gone!

I hope it doesnt go PAYG, the handset will be a terrible price.

I plan on upgrading to the 16GB (I have a 16 atm) but selling my old iphone to a friend who wants it, to cover some of the costs - all in all I reckon an upgrade will cost me £60. Bummer, but thats life (and the iphones awesome).

If you get a PAYG iPhone on O2 you can just buy one of their PAYG addons like the data transfer for something like £7 per month.

LOL in NZ I can get a 8gb for around $200, and then be on a $20 contract for 12 months. So yea I'm still being ripped off but not as much as anyone else

How are you getting ripped off paying $20 a month on a 12 month contract? People in the USA would do anything for that.
