Old  [WIP] - My band's website

I threw this together in a few hours because we will be playing at a larger venue than we usually do this weekend, and I figured it'd be a good idea to have at least something online that we could point people to if they want to contact us.

http://bigriverband.net

Anyway, like I said, it is very temporary, and I'm not a graphic designer, but I would still like any input on where I could go with the theme when I turn it into a full-blown work-of-art, Christian band website!

Thanks guys.

Its very blue...first of all bring in some new colours! - make some contrast.

I agree with stillt, it really is lacking contrast. I would also stay away from bevel'd fonts

It's the effect that you used on the text "big river". It's an effect called Bevel. (It's in blending options in photoshop)

Ah, I didn't make the logo, so I didn't know what it was.

But now for the important question: Why should I stay away from this "bevel"?

I went back and made the water stand out a little more to try and add some contrast to the background and make it a little less "blue-heavy" but really... that's kinda the theme I'm working with: a river. I mean, I know water isn't really blue, but... the lack of contrast was somewhat intentional. It's supposed to have an underwater type feel.

Any other suggestions? I'd appreciate it.

It is / was soooo overused by the less-than talented designers. And noob designers as well. It's like using Comic Sans... Just don't do it

I agree with all the posts above. Everything seems a bit "faded" too (The microphone and guitar could use some color and be more visible)
