Old  Major Computer Upgrade Decision that i need to make in 2 days, HELP!

Alright guys, dell has just given me a great offer. Here it is:

Dimension 3100 Desktop with 1GB ram and 19" flat panel upgrade
Intel Pentium 4 Processor 524 with HT Technology (3GHz, 1MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB)
Windows XP Home Edition
1GB shared Dual-Channel DDR2 SDRAM
80 GB SATA Hard Drive
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900
48x CD-ROM Drive
Integrated 10/100 Ethernet
1-Yr economy service plan
Dell E196FP 19" Flat Panel Display

All for $449

I'm going to call and see if my Antec 430 watt PS and geforce 6800 card is compatible. If it is, then I'm really thinking about going with this. My current setup that it will replace is:

AMD Athlon 2500+ XP (1.83GHz)
1 GB ram (not PC3200)
geforce 6800 video card
16 GB hard drive
Antec PS
Huge 17" monitor (I mean GIGANTIC )

My current setup has problems running Counter Strike 1.6. Is the processor in the dell a lot better? And should i be able to run CS:S well? How well of a system is this for multitasking (the dell)?

Thanks a bunch, I have 2 days to purchase this deal, or it will expire.

Don't get a Dell, terrible company, you upgrade it and there goes your warranty and then when it dies within a year, you have nothing to fall back on.

There's nothing wrong with Dell.

The video card will be compatible (AFAIK) but the PSU won't.

Yea, but think about it. It includes a $240 flat panel monitor (which was what attracted me to this deal, because i want a flat panel). It also comes with a copy of Windows XP (which can be useful, whether its for this system or not) so thats around $100. Then with 1 GB of ram and a processor which i'm almost 100% sure is faster than my current, this is a deal thats pretty hard to pass up.

That license of XP is only for the Dell Machine, it's licensed to that machine only, since they are using a imaged harddrive, and that cd looks for the computer name, and if the computer name is different then the CD won't work. I had this problem myself.

I'd buy that, seeing what your current system is. You have no need for using your old PSU and the geforce card should work with no probs.

No, not a Dell. Good luck. Dell has their own way of running a computer.

Dell offer these great deals because they operate in such a way as to inhibit any up-grades other than through their system... Tread softly. Dell are not the best company to deal with. Good luck, Nick.

Dell is long-term WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get).
If you wish to upgrade, you can only do so through them depending on what offers they have. I've never seen a CPU or/and motherboard upgrade from them. Basically if you want it to run faster you would have to buy a new one. Although upgrading the RAM is possible.
