It is a bland design, compared to the vivid colors that you usually see around the internet today. Try throwing in another color or two to add contrast. It's a good start though. Good luck with your site.

Yeah...goign rate is, you are supposed to use two offsetting colors, and a accent color...
and color chooser with give you many options....but great idea with the midis, and it has potentials o dont stop.....

Site is ok for 8 hours of work.
You should consider using a sans-serif font for the navigation though, Times simply does not look good there.

The content is great. But the site looks very boring as only black and white. Also you could use some more whitespace because everything is a bit tightly together.

I agree with the font issue Julian, also use some css to format it, will help loading times and it should make the site look alot neater on the whole.
The header isn't too bad, generic anime. The adverts on the right side stand out and it's for this reason you probably won't get many clicks at all. I find the layout, use of borders/tables to be quite annoying and it makes the site look messy.
Also, what's the purpose of the mouse over on "navigation" and "web stats" but none of the links?
