WARNING: coding from daz

I would strongly advise you do not purchase xhtml/css valid coding from the person using the username Daz on the forum. When you pay for xhtml/css coding you expect code that is compatible in all browsers, although daz doesn't believe this. I paid him for coding and it didn't work in IE and he refused to give me a refund or correct the error, he says I just payed for xhtml/css coding and not cross-browser compatibility, isn't the whole point of xhtml/css that very reason?

He is refusing to give me a refund and constantly says I payed for xhtml/css that only works in IE7 and FF, when he never said that at the start.

Obviously he doesn't understand the meaning of cross-browser compatibilty.

Anyway, just a warning before you purchase any of his services.

Not once did you mention the code had to be compatible with IE6. Considering I have upgraded to IE 7, I'm not going to downgrade just to fix some compatibilty issues for ONE coding job. You got what you paid for, valid xhtml/css coding. If you want to get legal, use a contract. No money will be refunded.

Really, a pathetic attempt to ruin my 'reputation.'

By the way, It's funny how you said you will chargeback all the payments you ever sent me because of this one coding job.

That was an attempt to get you to give me a refund, I don't actually care about your reputation. As a TF user I feel I should warn them.

I thought xHTML meant that everything was cross-compatible? Maybe I'm wrong, since I'm no coder...but if I paid someone to do xHTML/CSS I would expect that it was valid and working in ALL browsers.

End of story. It isn't about the amount that he paid you, it's about how you treat your clients, and obviously you do not treat your clients with the benefit of the doubt, or the respect they deserve.

xHTML/CSS has some common flaws that are uncompatible in some browsers eg IE6. IE7 renders alot more like FF than IE6, so techically you can only write for FF, which supports more CSS yes, but if you were a good coder you would be able to code flawlessly for all browsers by habit, knowing what to avoid.

Also, techincally if cross-browser compatibility is not stated while you discus terms of the job its not technically a requirement, but is expected of all coders who are worth thier weight.

I make sure my coding works in all big browsers, Opera, IE6/7, FF, Safari.

IE 5.5 upwards, FF, Safari, possibly Opera but i rarely check it to be fair.

I coded it for all the browsers I could. I tested it in:

Opera 9.10 on Linux
Firefox 1.5.0.7 on Linux
Konqueror 3.5.5 on Linux
Firefox 2.0 on Linux
Firefox on Windows
Ie7 on Windows.

I'm waiting for the results from Safari.

I simply couldn't code it for IE6 because I don't have it.

However, I respect your opinion.

daz - that reason just sucks. Sure, IE6 does as well, but because of it's ~80% market share, it's obviously a browser to test in... As long as you know your CSS you don't have to resort to more hacks than the float-margin;
margin: 0 -3px
depending on how advanced the layout. Also just use:

that for testing in IE6. Easy enough.

Probably more than 80% use IE6, personally wouldn't hire this guy for anything if he's not bothering with the most important browser.
