Old  'Credit Card' for under 18's

360money.com

360money is a prepaid Cash account that gives autonomy, control and freedom just as cash does. With 360money, you can top up your account with cash, spend it or put it aside for later. You can also check your transactions on the Internet or over the phone. 360money is not a bank account and does not expose you to any form of debt or overdraft, so there are no nasty surprises!

360money is simply a new family of Plastic Cash cards, with no credit attached, developed for those who want to use their cash without going through the process of setting up a bank account, having a credit or a debit card.
These are great. Although unfortunately, they aren't accepted by PayPal,
practically all online shops accept them.

Only today I used it on this site: http://talkfreelance.com/thread16332.html

The only 'catch' - as such - is that you have to pay a monthly fee of £1.50, or a one off payment of £7.

Hope this helps some of you.

That is a huge rip off it takes like 10 minutes to set up a bank account and you don't pay the bank for the pleasure of spending your own money!

Plus how do you put money on the card without a debit/credit card?

I don't understand... Why not just use your debit card? This seems really pointless to me, or maybe i'm just not understanding the whole concept here.

The bank I'm with - Nationwide - doesn't give out debit cards to under 18s, and opening up another bank account is pretty pointless when I have one already.

To put money on the card, you simply take it to a news agents, or post office and top it up the same way you would a mobile phone.

To those that think this is a scam:
This concept was originally owned and run by a reputable company named "Splash Plastic" who were affiliated with such online sites as Habbo hotel, CDWow, etc.
But earlier this year were bought out by 360money.

I used Splash Plastic quite frequently, but won't be using this card.

Splash Plastic has been around for a lot of years now. Seems they're rebranding a bit.

Open a checking account and get a debit card. It's that simple.

Exactly what I was thinking.

If you're really that concerned about getting into debt, set a limit on purchases and withdrawals on your debit card.

Why are you gonna bother paying all these dumb fees and whatnot to spend your own money?
