  Old  Choosing a domain name

Hey, I'm trying to create a domain name, any tld will do. I've spent a lot of time thinking about a simple professional domain to use with my server. I'm going to use this domain for email, sever access, and my portfolio. There is no product or website being run on this ip, it's strictly for personal access.

Instead of asking for some good domains. I'm asking for some tips on choosing a good domain.

If anyone is trying to sell some domains please pm me with a list and I will reply. My budget on a domain is pretty high, but I will not state what it is.

Jordan

I have considered a domain name using my name, however, the only domains that appeal to me are taken. After all, how many jordans do you think did the same thing. So I'm resorted to using a word.

Serve2.com is not exactly what i'm looking for. I read that numbers aren't good to use in a domain name.

Seraskier.com doesn't seen professioanal.

I'm looking to have my email as jordan@domain.com so having my name as the domain would look weird.

*raises hand* ahah

Might want to try out http://domai.nr to get an idea for other varieties of TLD usages. Hopefully it will do you some good?

1Pick a Domain Name that Reflects Your Web Site

Above all else, your domain name should reflect what your web site is all about.
2Pick a Domain Name that Contains Your Web Site's Keywords

Try to pick a domain name that contains your most relevant keyword phrase because some Search Engines place relevancy on them.

3Pick the Best Domain Extension

Although there are many new domain extensions available, dotcom is still the best choice. When typing in a web address, Internet users automatically want to type in a .com extension, since this is the extension that has been embedded into our brains from the start.

4 Pick a Domain Name that will be Easily Remembered

With millions of web sites accessible on the Internet, it is also very important to pick a domain name that will be easily remembered.

5 Don’t use Dashes and Underscores in Your Domain Name

Don’t use dashes, underscores or any other characters within your domain name that may cause confusion. This may lead people to go to the site with the same address as yours but no dash. This means not only will you lose traffic, if the site is similar you are transferring it to your competitors.

hope help

I think all of the points mentioned above are very important. I have my own domain and unfortunately many seem to associate it with other things but for now, it is fine and suits me.

When I tried to find a creative name, many were taken and didn't want to go for an expensive one either, but you seem to have a good budget.

If you don't promote a product or service, then go with some catchy or fancy domain name. Something like digg, bing etc.

The domain name you are going to register should be as much as possible unique, catchy, short and descriptive and also should be registered at reliable place which is accredited and has good reputation. For instance, you can check *********.com which is reliable Canadian domain name registrar. Think that you will make productive decision to contact their support team and ask about the extension you need, telling them about your web site's content.

When choosing a domain I pick those who appear in my keyword research list.

So that I can easily gain traffic with that domain.
