Spamming Forums

I have seen many spammers come and just cut and paste the same posts all over the internet. Then I see them get banned and those posts deleted. I was just wonder if those posts are really effective? And if not...why do people still do them?

If the spammer spams on a forum where the links posted by members are "dofollow" and where there are lazy moderators or no moderators. They can benefit in SEO.

Like other forms of spam (email!), it's just a numbers game. For every x amount of forums with active moderators who follow them around cleaning up their crap, there will be 10 (100, 1000 or more) times that number of forums which won't get rid of their spam posts. Heck, even for the ones that do keep their forums tidy, there's always a time delay where the spam post is being seen and potentially clicked on.

Effective for what? I think such spams help nothing of the websites of the spammers in terms of link buildings and SEO. Google and other search engines wouldn't take the blatantly promoting posts seriously, not to mention count the links.

If the aim of these spammers to show the customer do follow backlinks and these spammers are not going to work with them any longer - such posts are effective. but if the aim is long-termed. moderators will delete these posts and the links will be deleted also. In this case, no use and they are ineffective at all.

I don't think their aim is long term Google ranking, rather a click through here and there ... strictly a numbers strategy.

I guess they are just desperate to get visitors to their websites. I bet these spammers are newbies trying to make a quick buck online.

Does have some negligible SEO benefits. ala: link building. ( Though in terms of the time spent doing it. When they could be doing more effective things, its inefficient. ) Assuming they aren't using automated posting software. Also, if someone knows what they're doing with that strategy. There are best practice policies that can substantially increase the ROI for someone.

Think some of them are affiliate linkers ... may be getting paid on a PPC/PPM basis. So anyone who clicks on their links is rewarding them to some extent, depending on what the arrangement is. And the home location/point of origin of the spammer. Like many other posters said. In that context its a number's game.

Why people do it ? Many varied reasons ... shrugs. And there you have it folks ... another one of my epinions ! yay.

So...lemme see if I follow everything that has been said here... they ARE effective as long as they stay active? No one has to click anything?

So if someone knows what they are doing with this strategy. There are best practice policies that can significantly increase return on investment for someone.

But, spammers spoil the forums with nonsense messages and take the path of true interaction between people.
