Ever been to Alaska?
Just curious if anyone has been to Alaska. My parents want to take a cruise there with the whole family.
We go on cruises to the Carribean all the time, but thought it'd be a fun change to go to Alaska.
We're also looking into Europe, but we'd have to fly over there, and that's a long flight.
Thoughts on Alaska?

Europe is a completely different experience, I live in the UK and have travelled around Europe, everything is different and everything is cultural. I highly recommend it.

Europe is most probley the best place to visit.. Every single diffrent part has diffrent cultures.. Belgium - good for beer and chocolate. france - good for wine and meat. UK - good for fish and chips and kebabs (Thanks those turks).. germany - good for beer and sasuages, netherlands - good for the H.O.E's and legal smoking substances - spain - good for lambos etc.
You get the idea
P.S - italy - good for pizza n pasta!.

Hear, hear. Italy! The UK is good for street brawls and ladies with boobs bigger than their brains.

If you are going on a cruise it won't matter where you go, you'll not have the chance to really get to know any area. If you want to enjoy it, I suggest 2 weeks in Barrow. That's the real Alaska; none of that tourist crap.

Weather wise, I have been to some places similar to Alaska, Murmansk, Magadan, Komsomol"sk-na Ammure (Not sure of spelling there..), and I can say that it generally sucks unless your there in the Summer (although Alaska is more evergreen in some places so it is probably nicer)
Tourism wise, I am not that big on cruises, I just feel isolated, and unless your big on nature, I doubt there will be much to do on land. However, if you like to hang out on boats, and like to see some interesting nature, I think that Alaska would be good.
