  Old  html/wordpress SEO

Hey guys, what can I do to improve the SEO on my wordpress site.

How can I optimize it for a key term?

Where should i use the heading tags on my theme? I generally do this:

h1 - main header w/ site url
h2 - post titles
h3 - sidebar headings
ul/li's - sidebar/navigation

Not sure if thats the best way to do it I think I read online you should use h1's for post titles?

Any other tips would be appreciated. I had a quick look though google and all the top sites on it seemed to be really old.

Thanks......

Don't use headings for your sidebar headings. I know it's bad in theory but you don't want Google thinking your sidebar headings which are probably "My Photos", "Recent Comments" or whatever to be authoritative text, I'd stick with <spans> to style misc. headings.

Be easier if you just linked us to your site.

Google likes aged domains.

To optimize you site, you can follow the link building methods. On page is always important for getting the quality for your site. Headers are one of the part of it.So, you can use the headers. But dont use the headers for the side bars. The link building methods can help your site to get more visitors, back links and better indexing.

For optimizing your site firstly check that there should be no break links on the site, all links should working properly, there should be a sitemap, and after that go for meta data.

I would recommend that you buy or download some SEO books and start having a read, as there are 200+ factors that affect SEO and where you stand in the SERP's (Search Engine Results Pages), I would recommend buying "The Art of SEO" which can be found by following the link here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/059651886...SIN=0596518862 or if you would want a quick reading book for begginers, then I would recommend either:
