 Laptop Advice.
Hi,
I'm looking at buying a new laptop, and would like some advise on the best brands and product lines to look at. I've got a budget of upto £1000, and would like something quite portable with a resonable battery life - probably looking a 15 - 17 inch screen.

I've got a HP Pavilion dv9000 (17").
I've used it for everything (from simple web browsing & iTunes to design work), I use it everyday, and it has yet to let me down. I've got the HP Pavilion dv9000. It was around 800 euros back when I bought it, don't know how much it is now.

Whatever you choose, I just wanted to say choose something with the highest amount of RAM for your buck! If you're going to program, design and use a lot of applications at once, you need a machine that can handle that heavy load. Hope that helps!

I had a good experience with a compaq, that was in 2003 though so things may have changed. I'm likely going to be getting another one withing a few months.

Funny, my Macbook works perfectly, oh and my i Mac works perfectly too... Strange must be something wrong with yours? Or maybe you just cant afford one so you bash others  .

Likewise, had my iMac for 2 years and never had a problem. Had my MBP almost a year and works fantastically.

I'd actually advice against an HP, my power cable burnt through (1 cm cable just went missing, weird right?!) and after replacing that something burnt internally causing the power not to reach my battery or anywhere else (dc is still attached fine to the moterboard, diagnosing problem at the moment but it's been a big headache)...
