You can't expect massive website traffic via these Directory Submission Sites, but like @flc said, you get a lot of backlinks.

But make sure to go only for quality directory submission sites.

Hi, Directory submission is the most easiest method to earn backlink for a site without putting a lot of efforts. If possible try to submit your data to directories which are related to GEO based area.

Directory submission is very helpful in increasing page rank and traffic if they are dofollow and high PR directories.
