Factors to Consider When Pricing Design Services

When pricing your design services it can be difficult to determine what is an appropriate and fair price. The resulting price should be influenced by a number of different factors. Unfortunately, many times it is just guess work from the designer.

What factors do you guys consider?

Amount of blue prints, Initial Design, Time taken. Well, it used to be like that for me.

Hours needed x hourly rate. Done.

If only it were that simple all the time.

hours x hourly rate x premium x use. Doesn't get much harder than that.

Well the hard is usually the hours bit, working that out ahead of time can be difficult. For me it usually changes from client to client for the same work, but if you never worked with someone before that can be hard to estimate.
