Old  How do I market a freelance website?

Hi,

I am looking for some ideas on how to market a freelance website. The Project4Hire.com freelance website is relatively new and I am looking to increase the traffic that I get. We all know who the big freelance websites are and I am looking to grab a share of the market from them.

If you have any suggestions or advice, I would love to hear them.

I don't want to discourage you, but it will be hard. A freelance site needs buyers/projects at first place. If there are projects, the coders will come. So you'll have to concentrate on attracting buyers

Your best bet is going to be getting into the first few pages of the search engines to compete with the big boys, add your site to hundreds of directories to boost your link backs, over on digitalpoint there is a guy who submits sites to 500 pr4+ directories for $40, it got my site onto page 1 for nearly ALL my keywords within 30 days.

Most freelancers have a website of their own. Have you thought about offering a payment discount to those who let you place an ad on their site?
