Probably, plus also knowing how to frame an image for the right look helps.

The difference you're seeing is probably the angle he is shooting from. Most are shot from the level of the car, not standing up and shooting down on the vehicle. It makes a huge difference.

Also remember that using a tripod can extremely help a picture's quality. Then I'm sure he used a good self-set ISO setting and exposure time and all of that.

Aren't you suppose to take your "good pictures" on tripods though? Well I don't know to much about photography, I just thought that that was the standard.
