Generaly i like MSN for "just talks" as i don`t have to answer directly and i can focus on doing stuff. If need fast and detailed talk i use Skype.

I've never used YIM mainly because not many people use it and I hate the application. When I was younger I used AIM most of the time but have since then grown and gotten stuck with Windows Live Messenger (MSN). I've used Trillian before, but I dislike the UI of it and ever since Google Voice came out, I haven't had any reason to use Skype.
So for me, it's always WLM and GTalk.

Rarely use AIM, but use MSN everyday and Yahoo once in a while.

I have found MSN messenger to be an effective marketing tool. I never deleted any of my contacts from the years I have been freelancing and I have my status set to "PHP and .NET Programmer for Hire." I've already gotten a project from that alone, I've made a few connections as well.
