Escrow is a good option, as is cashiers check.

My thoughts exactly...

Why announce it here when technically it hasn't been sold ? One would assume that everything had gone through.

Because once someone has bidded on something, they are techincally binded to the sale, and plus, it does say on SitePoint the word "SOLD" Seb, if you can read it

That's really not the case. It's bad practice, but nothing will happen to someone if someone backs out of a sale. It happens all the time.

Its not legally binding, he could just file a paypal complaint saying his brother did it and get his money back. Or he could back out of it early. It's by no means binding.

No you're wrong. No contract, then it's not sold in the eyes of the law. SitePoint has no authority as to whether something has actually been sold or not. It is also well known that often people on Sitepoint will go in with BINs, send a payment then claim their money back, after they get everything, so, a bid definitely doesn't confirm the sale of a site. Oh and one more thing, I will put money that you will be putting this back up for sale due to this falling through, guarantee it. Prove me wrong though...

Just to clear up some confusion since people seem to be crossing website policies... there are in fact some websites in which a mere bid is in fact a legally binding contract, such as on eBay. SitePoint, however, is not one of those sites.

Taiyab, I've had my fair share of buyers on SP who've backed out from paying after making bids - so wait for the guy to pay you before announcing to the world that your site has sold
