Price means quality, what a load of rubbish.
My first laptop was a refurb'd demo acer which I got for a grand. My mate had a brand new toshiba with the same specs for $2.5k. Within a year he had multiple problems that had to be fixed, years on mine is still going with no problems at all.
And in regards to coding, I've seen people charge $300/hr who code TABLES and actually believe they are worth it. Hourly rate is little indication of quality, especially given that some people are from "3rd world countries" and $20/hr is great money, even though in Australia its extremely average.
