what's so bad about godaddy. everytime I mention it on sitepoint they tell me to switch to someone else..

It's because godaddy sends more email than usual and push products on your as if you've gotta buy them or else it just won't be the same.

I still use godaddy, i do the quick checkout and it works great.

They may be referring to GoDaddy hosting, which is one of the worst, most cripped hosting services around. But, I use GoDaddy as my main registrar and have had no problems thus far.
