Google tests out click-to-call adwords
Google is apparently testing out click-to-call AdWords - I can’t see it myself, but Seth just searched for ‘refinance’ and spotted some phone icons alongside the AdWords listings. He entered his phone number and within five seconds received an automated phone call, which connected to the purchaser of the AdWords listing when it had him on the line.

This seems pretty creative of Google and another way they're innovating their advertising but I just can't see it working personally, can you imagine how annoying that would be?

It is a very nice feature, but I personally prefer to use email/form better.

I'd prefer getting text messaged install of a call - what if your cell phone goes off during class, or church.

Lmao. Just put school's phone number and piss the secretary off I'd love to do this cause she hates me
Anyway, this isn't a good idea because of the above "prank" stuff that will happen all the time.

I don't think prank calls will be a big problem because if you go to that company's website, their phone number is there anyway. Prank calling problems will still be the same as always.. maybe a small increase when the service is more popular but it'll get boring quick.

Perhaps only mature people will realise what it does and will not prank call them.

Some of you are probably too young to be aware of this, but many folks have to deal with countless telemarketers randomly calling your phone at all hours of the day trying to sell insurance, new phone services, etc, etc because somehow they got a hold of your number (erm, public directory anyone). Now, what these ads are doing is saying to the advertiser, "Hey call this guy and tell him about your offer!" Personally, I'd rather not have advertisers call me every time I click on an ad.
Just a question, do you have to enter your phone number every time an ad is clicked or is it stored in your Google profile?

No, no. You got it all wrong. If you want to contact the company advertising you put your number there and google CALLS you then GOOGLE calls them (so you never see their number and they dont see yours) and you chat They will have to pay per call i think..
