Just curious, if I were to have thousands upon thousands of corporate contacts in a database would it be illegal to sell the database?

If every name you collected had opted in to receipt of informational emails from people you believe they would be pleased to hear from, that would be one thing. But whether you sell the list or give it away, spam is still spam.
