Experiment in pink [wip]
What do you think? Is the pink too extravagant? Is the design in general OK?

It's too bland for my taste. Pink is actually a very suddle color in my opinion.(also due to the fact that your using a white washed pink) I'd suggest adding a color to make it pop out more or putting some brighter or darker colors to give it some more contrast.

Well first impressions are good and pink can look very nice when used properly.
One thing which doesn't look right is the pattern above "committedto bringing your life to the...." I think this is one of those layouts where the content boxes should be plain white and the typrography does the talking.
I am also not very keen on the bronze colour used, It look very nice on white but on the pink(Navigation) im not a fan.
Overall its a great start, best of luck with it.

I like the bg pattern as it goes very well with the pink. The white used above the pink looks good (as if it isn't the obvious choice), but the white also dims the horizontal navigation (and the brown in the navigation looks ugly). That logo looks good in brown when it's above the white.
It is a portfolio right? If it is, I think you can optimize the structure for better distribution of information.

Agreed.
I think you should remove the pattern from the header. It's the same pattern in the background. Don't bore your clients/visitors by using the same piece of art twice
Good luck!

Not too bad, I'm not feeling the pink though. Also, where did you get that floral pattern in the background I have been seeing more and more of that.

Actually if you look closely they're completely different - the intro box bg is
this and the page bg is this.

I got these particular ones from here but you can also find them here.

Well only part of it is the portfolio, and that will have a different structure, yes.
Thanks for the comments everyone, you've given me a lot to think about

UPDATE: I've coded it - haven't made any of the changes you guys suggested yet, but will get on with it.
http://onemedia.jono1.net/
It should look fairly identical in IE and Firefox, with the exception of the search box/button not being lined up properly in IE.
Also, in Opera there's a major gap between the body and the foot image. Don't know why.
