I tend to find that people think PHP is better because people who don't know much about server side scripting thing PHP is the only way to go, but realistically, in my opinion the .NET framework is THE most powerful out there. You could literally create desktop applications on a web page.

But back on topic, at the moment I work as a designer and ASP.NET developer in a small company, but I think the reason it is hard to find a designer that knows about .NET is that most of them think that PHP is the only way to make a web page interact with a server.

In reply to steven, give it a shot hand coding it, I tend to hand code all of my ASP.NET and C#, when I started doing that I learned a lot quicker, and I've not been doing it for that long now.
