  Old  Flash beginner

I work in ps and illustrator, I was never really exposed to flash so my web design skills are brutal. I really want and need to learn flash web design so I can compete as a freelancer. Are there any good flash tutorials, books or websites that anyone can recommend that will get me started on the right foot??

Thanks, any advice at all would be a great help!

I've learned a lot from flashkit.com and kirupa.com, just google flash tutorials and you'll find more as well that's mainly where I started in flash.

Flash help documentation is really extensive and did the trick for me to learn moderate actionscript. I managed to figure out the rest by myself with experimenting.
just 1 advice, start to learn flash with actionscript 3.
Although there are many tutorials for as2, you could much more profit if you start with as3.

I'll suggest that you go for Tutorialized.com - They have compiled some of the best tutorials on the net.

However one personal suggestion, if you are a good designer than its great. Otherwise you should only Focus on Action Scripting in Flash.

To learn some flash I used kirupa.com. Their tutorials are really good...

If you are just starting to learn Actionscript now, I would recommend learning Actionscript 3 (which is different than previous versions). It is faster (to execute). So when you seek out online tutorials, check which Actionscript version it is using.

Hello timmydoherty

If you want easy to follow tutorials for learning Flash, I would have to suggest Cartoonsmart.com. Justin covers most everything from drawing, gaming, integrating PHP, etc.

There is also a forum at cartoonsmart.net/forum for further assistance. I'm a moderator there and I'm more into Actionscript and custom Flash extension development. Feel free to stop by and ask questions.
