Which is your favourite OS and why?

Just wondering what everyones favourite operating system is? I'm currently using windows xp home and I would have to say it's my favourite. I started off with windows 95 which was rubbish (good for it's day) then we jumped right to windows ME I believe which was an awful OS. I have used a mac before but I didn't really like the feel of their operating system.

I like windows xp simply because it's very easy to use, being a windows user for 10 years I know it like the back of my hand, every program works with it and I have rarely had any technical issues or the so called "blue screen of death" that haunts alot of users.

So this begs the question, what's your favourite OS and why?

Windows XP, All ive ever used in Windows, what else can I say?
A computers a computer to me, I mean as In Windows Works, why change it

XP Pro.

Used Windows 3.1 briefly, DOS, Win95, 98, 98SE & 2000 Pro and all were improvements on their predecessors.

Like Robson have used them all extensively, (apart from 3.1), even to the point of becoming a certified 'Master user' in 95/98, 2000 and XP.

XP is the most stable to date, though I've had good stability since 98SE. I often have XP running for months at a time without the need for a restart.

XP Pro simply because it is the one I use all of the time. Oh, I'd also rank XP Pro over Home... there's not a huge amount of difference but the extras are worth it (for me).

If only Microsoft got their finger out and made the Windows UI more... sexy.

I like OS X 10.4. I've used DOS, and Windows (2.x - XP) but I just like the look and feel of OS X 10.4 the best.

I starting from Windows 3.1, then Windows NT, then Win 200 and now Windows XP.
XP is better for today.

XP Pro is my current operating system, by choice.

I have 95b, 98SE, ME and 2000 pro all on my ghost drive...every now and then I install one of them for fun...run it for a couple of days untill I am sick of it and back to XP pro. Takes a mere 7 minutes to install a new operating system under ghost.

XP pro is by far the most stable platform so far to date. It is also the slowest by a long shot...98SE boots in 21 seconds, XP pro boots in 47 seconds. I would rather stability over speed (I only have an old P4 1.3ghz, 384mb Rambus ram btw)

i've never had too many problems with Windows but that's because i've been a VERY cautious user on Windows.

my favourite is Ubuntu Linux because on Linux you don't need a virus guard to protect yourself and that means a lot more resources free, plus it runs really fast even with a virus guard. it's robust as hell too. the security within the system is pretty cool. protects users from themselves too.
plus you can very easily modify the system. you can add or remove modules you want/don't need and so that means a super optimized system.
best part it's free and open source which means if there's a new bug, it gets squashed pronto since it's open source.

but ubuntu is only good as a desktop OS IMO. not really a Server type of OS.
RedHat on the other hand can handle server loads really well but i didn't like it as much as ubuntu because i just want a desktop OS and Ubuntu is the easiest...Ubuntu is more like a newbie Linux actually.

Windows XP Pro - Never used anything else but Windows and have never had a problem so I really don't have any desire to change my OS.

W2000 Professional is my fave, but I'm stuck with Xp since that's the licence they gave me for my laptop
